Hydrovac Operator
About The Position
Birch Mountain Enterprises (BME) is hiring experienced Hydrovac operators for a 14/7 shift schedule, working both days and nights. Operating from its main operations in Fort McKay, BME provides vac, water, waste, fuel, and flat bed hauling services to industrial and commercial customers. We offer competitive wages and seek candidates that are seeking secure, long-term employment. The Hydro Vac Operator position involves the safe operation of a tri-drive hydro Vac unit. Operators should be mechanically inclined and physically fit to work in all kinds of weather. Preference will be given to candidates that possess previous hydro-vac experience in the industrial sector.
Requirements
- Possess a valid Class 1 or 3 operator’s license with clean driver’s abstract
- Minimum 3 years experience (including up to 18 speed manual class 1 equipment)
- Previous (or related) experience operating hydro Vac units
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- OSSA (or OSSA BSO/CSO) and CSTS certification
- H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance, Confined space and fall protection certification
- Must be able to complete online training.
- Must successfully pass BME driver’s evaluation, D&A and fit for duty pre-employment screening

- Previous hydro-vac experience in the industrial sector
Responsibilities
- Operate Tri-drive hydro Vac units in a safe and efficient manner
- Must be physically able to perform tasks and work in all weather
- Completion of daily documentation including but not limited to daily log books, customer work orders, field level risk assessment, pre/post trip inspections
- Follow instructions for tasks assigned by Dispatch or Supervisor
- Complete daily housekeeping of assigned truck to ensure maintenance of company image
- Attend daily tool box and safety meetings as scheduled and adhere to corporate and site safety regulations and procedures.
