About The Position

The Hydrovac Operator is responsible for transporting hydro-excavation equipment to various project sites and operating that equipment. The Hydrovac Operator will perform potholing of underground utilities and other hydro-excavation tasks. The operator must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and adhere to industry standards and safety protocols. Through daily coordination with the Logistics Manager and/or the Logistics Coordinator, the Hydrovac Operator will safely utilize all functions of the hydro-excavation equipment, including the vacuum system, high-pressure water system, and debris tank. The operator ensures the safety of others working near the vacuum truck by maintaining clear communication and following safety procedures. Additionally, the operator coordinates dump locations and procedures for the disposal of waste material, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The role also includes maintaining equipment, performing routine inspections, and supporting project teams in achieving their objectives. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Class A.
  • Tanker Endorsement “N” required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience operating large trucks and hydro-excavation equipment.
  • Knowledge of underground utility locating and potholing techniques.
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification required.
  • Proficient in operating vacuum excavation equipment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols.
  • Demonstrates resilience in challenging situations.
  • Shows adaptability to changing circumstances.
  • Interactive communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain in a standing or kneeling position for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift tools and supplies, up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear clearly.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach.
  • Dexterity to utilize and manipulate tools and materials.
  • Clear vision, or wear glasses/contacts if vision is obscured.
  • Able to stand, walk, and kneel on rough and uneven terrain for extended periods.

  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
