About The Position

The Hydrotester is responsible for performing hydrostatic tests on tanks by plugging openings, filling them with water, and applying pressure. This role involves visually checking for leaks, marking any identified leaks, and operating hydro test and pneumatic testing equipment safely and properly. The position also includes inspecting tank fittings and brackets for proper welds, stamping tested tanks, recording required data, chipping slag and welding, and notifying supervisors of low material stock. Additionally, the Hydrotester may be required to hold welding certifications for repairs, attach data plates, inspect testing equipment, maintain paperwork, perform housekeeping duties, and operate material handling equipment like cranes, hoists, and forklifts, including completing any related training or safety programs.

Requirements

  • Must have either a High School diploma, GED, or at least 1 year working experience in an industrial based environment.
  • Ability to work will in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.
  • Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job.
  • Must have reading, writing and simple math skills.
  • Must be able to read blueprints.
  • 4-1 short circuit transfer GMAW. 1G Minimum (if applicable)
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be certified to operate all hydro stations.
  • Must be certified to operate large diameter test station Building 2
  • Must be certified on the passivation of Stainless-Steel vessels.
  • Training on all pneumatic and hydro testing equipment.
  • Various types of fillets, groove, and multi-use weld gauges.
  • Safety checks and other housekeeping tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Hydrostatically tests tanks by plugging openings and filling each tank with water and pressure.
  • Visually check each tank for leaks and identifies leaks by marking the shell.
  • Properly and safely operate hydro test and pneumatic testing equipment.
  • Visually inspects tank’s fitting and brackets for proper welds. Hand stamps all tested tanks with assigned letter. Records required tank information on hydro data sheet, using the weld inspection report
  • Chips slag and welding from around fittings and brackets when tank is being filled with water. Notifies Supervisor when plastic plugs, O-rings and other materials reaches re-ordering points.
  • Holds necessary welding certification, as required to repair all manufactured products.
  • Attaches data plates as necessary.
  • Inspection of hydro testing equipment for proper operation before use.
  • Maintain all appropriate paperwork relating to testing practices.
  • Preforms housekeeping and other related duties.
  • Material handling – operation of cranes, hoist, and forklifts when necessary. Also successfully complete any training/safety program relating to the operation of the equipment.
