About The Position

Truck Centers, Inc. (TCI) is seeking an Assistant PTO (Power Take-Off) Specialist to support its markets throughout MO, IL, and IN. This role serves as the in-house expert on mobile hydraulic systems, providing technical support and solutions to customers and service technicians. The specialist will be responsible for designing and troubleshooting all aspects of PTO systems, hydraulics, valves, and components. This is a Shared Services position based in Troy, IL, requiring approximately 15% travel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in heavy-duty truck parts or service
  • Valid Driver's License with ability to meet insurance requirements
  • Above average math skills, basic algebra skills, and understanding of the mathematical order of operations for daily hydraulic equation calculations
  • Basic understanding and ability to read and articulate hydraulic schematics to customers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work efficiently and maintain physical and emotional stamina to safely manage a fast-paced work environment with changing workloads and priorities
  • Resourceful, collaborative team player with the ability to also self-manage time and thrive independently
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
  • Ability to travel about 15% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of computer systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and specialized equipment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and PTO repair/service options to customers via phone and email, focusing on problem resolution.
  • Contact customers once parts for their orders have been located.
  • Enter part numbers into the system to price parts on orders.
  • Review customer orders and daily contacts to ensure all callbacks are made and all parts are ordered.
  • Conduct sales calls to existing and potential customers to identify immediate needs.
  • Monitor PTO parts inventory.
  • Return obsolete, damaged, or incorrect parts to vendors, process applicable credits or warranties, and report any issues to management.
  • Respond promptly to requests from team members and customers for assistance in identifying correct parts and accessories for vehicle hydraulic setups.
  • Collaborate with vendors on competitive pricing, custom quotes, and updating information in the dealer management system.
  • Promote PTO sales within the assigned area, working with the corporate parts team, operations, and parts sales.
  • Read bulletins and stay updated on current and new information regarding parts, the department, and the business.
  • Maintain current knowledge of individual hydraulic component functions and technical changes.
  • Use equipment and resources safely and responsibly, adhering to applicable laws, environmental and safety regulations, and company policy.
