About The Position
Steering Components (a division of Fleet Services, Inc.) is seeking a motivated, hands-on individual to join our shop team as a Hydraulic Mechanic / Rebuilder. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined and eager to learn a specialized trade. No prior rebuilding experience is required—we will fully train the right person. You will work directly with heavy-duty truck components, including steering gearboxes, steering pumps, and fan clutches.
Requirements
- Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and mechanical components.
- We supply 100% of the tools, precision equipment, and safety gear required for the job.
- Strong desire to learn a skilled technical trade with a positive attitude.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively alongside team members.
- Ability to lift, pull, and handle heavy truck components throughout the workday.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, clean, and thoroughly inspect hydraulic steering gearboxes, hydraulic pumps, and fan clutches.
- Replace seals, gaskets, and worn internal components.
- Reassemble components to manufacturer specifications using proper torque procedures.
- Quality-test completed units to ensure proper function and prepare/paint them for inventory or delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
