About The Position

This job assesses patients, safely prepares for, and scrubs into interventional procedures. This job provides care in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols; leads departmental programs and is a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, and assumes routine supervisory duties in the absence of the team leader. Requirements

  • Hybrid Operating Room Experience: Significant experience working in a hybrid surgical suite that integrates a traditional operating room with advanced imaging technology, enabling surgeons to perform both open surgical and minimally invasive and complex endovascular procedures in the same setting.
  • Specialized Vascular Supply Management: Knowledge and experience with ordering, handling, and preparing specialized vascular supplies such as guidewires, grafts, catheters, stents, and other endovascular devices necessary to support complex vascular procedures.
  • Sterile Technique & Surgical Environment: Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection control protocols to maintain a safe surgical field during hybrid and endovascular procedures.
  • Fixed Imaging Equipment Operation: Experience operating and assisting with specialized fixed imaging systems used in hybrid OR or angiography suites (e.g., fluoroscopy and advanced vascular imaging equipment).
  • On-Call Shifts Required: Must be available to take part in scheduled on-call rotations to assist with emergency or after-hours vascular and endovascular procedures.
  • Completion of a formal training program and Radiologic Technology training program
  • 5 years experience in Interventional Radiology.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Licensed by the Radiology Technology Board of Examiners in the state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique.
  • Knowledge of numerous vascular and non-vascular procedures, equipment, and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy.
  • Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
  • Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol.
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
  • Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
  • Leads departmental programs, protocol development, system standardization, competency validation, safety programs, accreditation, and quality/efficiency initiatives.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of junior staff and provides feedback to annual staff evaluations.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
