About The Position

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, repair, and operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with applicable standards. This role requires technical expertise, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (required for handling refrigerants)
  • ODS Ozone Depleting Substance EPA Certification
  • Fall Protection Certification
  • Lifting Equipment Certification (if operating powered industrial trucks)
  • Confined Space Certification (if applicable)
  • Evidence of applicable State or local HVAC licensing as required
  • Demonstrated experience in HVAC maintenance and repair
  • Technical expertise in HVAC systems operation
  • Multi-craft technical skills (electrical, plumbing, piping)
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Safety compliance and procedures
  • Quality control and inspection

  • Communication and teamwork
  • Must be able to work in team environment with strong interpersonal skills
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs to HVAC systems and associated equipment, including chillers, air handling units, condensers, exhaust fans, boilers, and hot water pumps.
  • Execute equipment maintenance including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and changing parts to maintain HVAC systems at optimum performance levels.
  • Record readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation of equipment.
  • Knowledge of and ability to manage Building Automation / Control Systems to ensure effective / efficient operations within the HVAC systems that this role will support.
  • Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
  • Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure excellent execution of maintenance work.
  • Requires travel to assigned sites/locations, including overnight travel as needed based on business demand.
  • Support continuous improvement by reviewing client service request summaries to identify recurrent operational problems, evaluating vendor performance, and maintaining safe workplace practices through proper hazardous materials management and tool inventory oversight.
