About The Position

Performs diagnostic evaluations, preventative maintenance, and HVAC repairs related to the university's building systems and related components. This includes the maintenance, inspection, and testing of HVAC systems, HVAC control systems, building mechanical systems (BMS), refrigeration, as well as electrical and plumbing systems, and their associated equipment and instrumentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Moderate amount of experience working in HVAC Mechanical, Controls and Building Management Systems, troubleshooting and diagnostics or other related experience
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • RI Refrigeration Journeyperson II (RJ2) or Pipefitter Journeyperson II (PJ2) license or willingness to obtain upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Performs HVAC maintenance work and preventative maintenance across the campus.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses the cause of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems to identify equipment and/or systems repair or replacement needs.
  • Conducts inspections for HVAC systems and their components (e.g., heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.), evaluating condition and identifying necessary repairs and make recommendations for corrective maintenance or replacement, as appropriate.
  • Maintains mechanical equipment in proper working order and reviews and executes appropriate safety protocols.
  • Responds to HVAC maintenance emergencies and conducts routine building inspections to make sure the university systems are operating efficiently.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
