About The Position

The HVAC Technician performs installation, repair, and maintenance of a variety of HVAC and related equipment throughout the district. Equipment includes refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, electric motors, heating units, heat pumps, compressors, commercial furnaces, boilers, burners, fans, economizers, humidifiers, capacity controls, air compressors and driers, split systems, flame safeguard controls, and packaged units. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

3–5 years of industrial experience, including work on chillers.
Legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; Austin is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa.

Responsibilities

Analyze, plan, and perform preventive maintenance of HVAC systems.
Plan maintenance and repair shutdowns for pumps, including chilled water, heating water, and condensate pumps.
Perform brazing, soldering, pipefitting, welding, and fabrication.
Read complex blueprints, piping plans, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Inspect, monitor, repair, maintain, and operate mechanical systems, motors, compressors, pumps, fans, ducts, pipes, thermostats, and switches.
Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, glycol, heating, hot water, and steam distribution equipment and systems to optimize performance and energy use.
Troubleshoot, repair, and modify HVAC systems.
Comply with applicable city, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations.
Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC equipment.
Manage relationships with major vendor accounts.
Properly maintain and safeguard district assets.
Perform other duties as assigned.
