About The Position

As an HVAC Technician at JLL, you will support the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of critical HVAC and mechanical systems within a facility environment. This role is responsible for ensuring building systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting occupant comfort and operational continuity. The position requires hands-on technical expertise across HVAC equipment, controls, refrigeration systems, and mechanical infrastructure, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and preventive maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum experience working in HVAC maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting within commercial, industrial, or critical facility environments.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, mechanical equipment, and building controls.
  • EPA refrigerant certification required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems including motors, VFDs, and control wiring.
  • Ability to safely work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and while operating lifts or scaffolding.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification or vocational training in HVAC, mechanical systems, or related discipline.
  • Experience working with Building Automation Systems and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with laboratory or critical environment equipment including fume hoods and biosafety cabinets.
  • Experience rebuilding pumps, motors, and air compressors.
  • Certification or experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, man lifts, or respirator equipment.
  • Strong preventive maintenance and diagnostic troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, OSHA standards, and safe handling of hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC systems including air handling units, DX systems, refrigeration equipment, VAV systems, heat exchangers, and hot water systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on pumps, valves, piping, filters, hot water heaters, ventilating equipment, and associated mechanical systems.
  • Maintain and manage refrigerants in accordance with EPA and New Jersey regulations, including accurate inventory and usage documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Building Automation Systems (BAS), pneumatic and electronic controls, VFDs, and HVAC electrical components including single- and three-phase motors.
  • Install, repair, and maintain HVAC-related equipment and components such as motors, pumps, compressors, bearings, seals, and control systems.
  • Support critical laboratory environments by maintaining equipment such as fume hoods and biosafety cabinets.
  • Follow all safety procedures, complete required work permits and Job Safety Analysis documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
