About The Position

The HVAC Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems throughout America's Rehab Campus (ARC). This position helps ensure all building systems operate safely and efficiently to provide a comfortable environment for clients, staff, and visitors while supporting compliance with regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards. Working in a 24-hour behavioral health facility with a hotel-style layout, the HVAC Technician performs routine preventive maintenance, responds to emergency repair requests, and assists with maintaining the overall functionality of the campus. This position also supports general facility maintenance projects as needed and works collaboratively with the Maintenance team to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for all occupants.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple repair requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • CPR/FA Certification – to be obtained within first 30 days
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card – have current card or show proof of applying within 7 days from hire date
  • Handle with Care – to be obtained within first 30 days
  • Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background check
  • Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Successful clearance of TB PPD testing upon hire and annual screening of TB symptoms

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited HVAC technical program preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of commercial HVAC maintenance and repair experience preferred.
  • Experience working in healthcare, hospitality, hotel, residential treatment, or institutional facilities is preferred.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs preferred.
  • HVAC certification or state licensing preferred.
  • Knowledge of HVAC controls and building automation systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues.
  • Repair or replace compressors, motors, belts, thermostats, filters, coils, and other HVAC components.
  • Monitor HVAC performance and recommend repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Maintain heating, cooling, ventilation, exhaust, and air filtration systems.
  • Service ice machines, walk-in coolers, refrigerators, and other refrigeration equipment as assigned.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls involving HVAC or climate control systems.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and preventive maintenance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, fire safety requirements, and company policies.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for major repairs or specialized services when necessary.
  • Assist with general facility maintenance projects when HVAC demands permit.
  • Maintain inventory of HVAC tools, equipment, and replacement parts.
  • Keep mechanical rooms clean, organized, and safe.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies as required.
  • Support ARC's mission by maintaining a safe, comfortable, and functional environment for clients and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
