About The Position

The HVAC Technician shall be responsible for general maintenance of the casino/hotel heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration system. All functions will be performed within the guidelines of the Downstream Casino Resort policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old or older upon employment.
  • High school diploma or its equivalency required.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the technical fields of appliance technician, electrical, heating/air conditioning required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Qualified and certified in the above referenced areas to make repairs in a building environment.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Applicants must be able to substantiate a safe driving record within the parameters acceptable to our liability insurance carrier.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
  • Must be able to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid non-gaming license.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues.
  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units.
  • Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems.
  • Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, and filling out and submitting monthly vehicle inspection form. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis.
  • Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
  • Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to Management what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
  • Always maintain a clean work area, safe for all team members and customers.
  • Keep public areas in and around the facilities free of litter and debris.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks at the casino daily.
  • Receive all appropriate incoming shipments at the casino/hotel site.
  • Responsible for all equipment and supply movement throughout all facilities.
  • Support all special event equipment needs.
  • Assist with all engineering duties including mechanical plumbing, heating, and air conditioning. Shall assist painter and carpenter as needed.
  • Work independently without direct supervision.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner always.
  • Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors and staff.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Attend all necessary meetings.
  • Assist in other projects.
