The HVAC Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining refrigeration equipment, air conditioning units, ventilation units, and heating units, including gas hot water heaters. This role also involves the installation of certain HVAC equipment. The technician will receive general instructions from their supervisor regarding the location of units needing repair. They will diagnose issues, plan repair procedures using various test equipment, blueprints, and other information, and perform necessary electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic, and gas train system repairs. After repairs, the technician will test and ensure the unit is back in operation and maintaining maximum efficiency. The role includes installing air conditioning units, handling wiring, piping, ductwork, and mechanical work. Additionally, the technician will verify that new systems installed by outside contractors meet specifications, use aerial platform equipment when needed, and record job and time information on work orders and other required forms. They may assist other maintenance personnel, provide technical assistance to Engineering, use the maintenance information system, operate mobile equipment, maintain a clean work area, observe safety regulations, and perform other duties as assigned.
