About The Position

Amentum is seeking a HVAC Technician V to join their Central Support Travel Team. This role is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical, electrical, and HVAC equipment and systems. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work safely with 3-phase power up to 480V. The technician will perform independent equipment evaluations, diagnose and repair industrial facility mechanical systems, HVAC equipment, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems. Familiarity with boilers, chillers, air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, BAS/BMS systems (Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric), and various refrigerant systems is essential. The role also involves conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting blowers, fans, and heat exchange equipment, performing basic pipefitting repairs, and coordinating work with other teams. The technician may also be involved in lab work, equipment setup, testing, data entry, and potentially lead complex technical work or train other technicians. This position requires significant travel to client sites, adaptability to a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong organizational and time management skills. Experience with various office software is also required.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Ability to work safely with 3-phase power up to and including 480V
  • Works under the direction of a task-responsible professional
  • Prepares/completes assigned tasks in conformance with applicable procedure requirements provided by the task supervisor
  • Must be familiar with and have experience troubleshooting and repairing boilers, chillers, air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and all HVAC related valves, controls, and systems
  • Must be familiar with BAS and BMS systems, such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, and Schneider Electric
  • Must be familiar with and able to troubleshoot and repair all types of refrigerant and refrigeration systems, including and licensed to perform refrigerant application and reclaiming
  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent
  • 6 years experience
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
  • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift
  • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift
  • Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift
  • Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift
  • Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift
  • Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift
  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife
  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding
  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement
  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained
  • Must have good work ethics and be available on nights and weekends as required to accommodate operational needs
  • Experience using a variety of office software, including: MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Excel, MS Share Point, and MS outlook

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair industrial facility mechanical systems; facility HVAC equipment and systems; pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair boilers, chillers, air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and all HVAC related valves, controls, and systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair BAS and BMS systems, such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, and Schneider Electric
  • Troubleshoot and repair all types of refrigerant and refrigeration systems, including licensed to perform refrigerant application and reclaiming
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repairs blowers and fans
  • Troubleshoot and repairs heat exchange equipment
  • Perform basic pipefitting repairs
  • Coordinates work with others in discipline group and other discipline groups on the project
  • Responsible for neatness and accuracy of work
  • May perform lab work, equipment set-up, testing and repair, quantity take-off, data entry and/or model construction utilizing prescribed techniques
  • Under limited direction, may work in a lead position of complex technical work utilizing a wide variety of resources, including computers and under limited supervision
  • May train other technicians

  • Responsible for travelling to client sites to support Amentum site operations teams
  • Work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities, schedules and budgets

  • Work overtime when required
