About The Position

This role involves servicing, performing maintenance, and repairing various HVAC equipment for commercial systems. The technician will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving equipment malfunctions, performing site start-ups for new installations, and conducting scheduled preventative maintenance. Key responsibilities include ensuring systems are operational, maintaining clear communication with dispatch and supervisors, and adhering to safety and company policies.

  • High School or Trade School Graduate or GED.
  • Holds a Universal Refrigerant Card (Type I or Universal).
  • At least 10 years of commercial experience.
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
  • Must maintain a flexible working schedule, including weekend on call rotation for stand by emergency service per rotation schedule.
  • Appearance must be clean and neat at all times.
  • Truck and all equipment must be clean at all times.
  • Abide by safety rules and regulations, including courteous and defensive driving.
  • Responsible for maintaining company tools in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Service, perform maintenance, and repair DX equipment up to 100 tons.
  • Service, perform maintenance, and repair packaged, water-cooled AC units up to 150 tons.
  • Service, perform maintenance, and repair water source heat pumps and associated equipment.
  • Service, perform maintenance, and repair computer room type units with self-contained humidifiers and controls.
  • Service, perform maintenance, and repair gas fired and electric heating systems found in commercial equipment up to 150 tons.
  • Service, perform maintenance, and repair pneumatic, electronic and modular DDC control systems generally associated with commercial HVAC systems.
  • Service, perform maintenance, and repair air handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systems.
  • Start systems, observe operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system.
  • Provide repair of requested equipment, including replacement or adjustment of defective or work parts/components to return systems to fully operational.
  • Perform proper evaluation and diagnosis of malfunctioning equipment at customer sites.
  • Bring questionable situations with equipment and/or customers to the immediate supervisor's attention.
  • Perform site start-up services for newly installed commercial equipment.
  • Consistently contact base after each call, keeping the dispatcher informed of job status, checking in at the end of the day, and getting the next day's job assignment before leaving.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance services as determined by customer.
  • Perform cleaning of condenser and evaporator coils, fan, and ductwork.
  • Inspect, adjust, and replace fan belts on motors.
  • Install wiring to connect components to electric power source.
