About The Position

The HVAC Technician II is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, apparatus, and electrical components of machinery, equipment, and the site, adhering to electrical codes, manuals, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications. This role involves the hands-on assembly and disassembly of component parts and machinery according to diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, all within the guidelines of Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • High school diploma or its equivalency required.
  • Must possess and retain an ARI Certification for HVAC Technician-Type: Universal.
  • Seven (7) years of previous hands-on HVAC experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in commercial HVAC applications required.
  • Well versed in the interpretation and implementation of the National Electrical Code, the New York State Uniform Building and Fire Prevention Code, National Fire Prevention Association and Occupational Safety and Health Association.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, specifically air-cooled units and air flow. Thorough understanding of controls, chillers, boilers, air filtration, refrigeration, pumps, cooling towers, pipefitting, and sheet metal installation and repairs.
  • In-depth experience in commercial/industrial electrical systems, 480/208V 3-Ph. Systems; 3 Ph. Motor wiring, motor and electrical control systems, and conduit runs.
  • Proficient in copper, PVC and T&C piping. Knowledge of pipe running and associated tools. Copper sweating proficiency expected.
  • Able to read, interpret, and implement architectural, engineering, and design drawings in all phases of building construction.
  • Broad HVAC training, using testing equipment, gauges, drawings, schematics, various precision instruments, and required tools of the field.
  • Knowledge and experience in blueprint reading, electrical theory, electronics, mathematics, mechanical drawing, electrical code requirements, safety and first aid practices, welding, fire alarm systems, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Knowledgeable in the operation and use of tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wrenches, torches, water tube puncher, coil cleaner, boiler tube cleaner, and ladders.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to substantiate a safe driving record acceptable to the liability insurance carrier.
  • Ability to make effective decisions by analyzing information and considering priorities.
  • Ability to seize opportunities to initiate and take ownership of projects and improvements.
  • Knowledge of electrical terminology.
  • Knowledge and ability to read blueprints and drawings.
  • Must possess supply management, basic safety, equipment maintenance, thoroughness, independence, and excellent communication skills.
  • Well versed in safety procedures for HVAC/electrical work to prevent electrical shock and falls.
  • Ability to write routine correspondence, develop presentations, proposals, and reports, and speak effectively to management, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees.
  • Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be in good physical condition, have good manual dexterity, and good color sense.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in the National Electrical Code, the New York State Uniform Building and Fire Prevention Code, National Fire Prevention Association and Occupational Safety and Health Association is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experienced in subjects such as blueprint reading, electrical theory, electronics, mathematics, mechanical drawing, electrical code requirements and safety and first aid practices, welding, fire alarm systems, HVAC-heating, ventilation and air conditioning and plumbing is a plus.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Installation, inspection, testing, dismantlement, and repairs of all types of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and related equipment, including refrigeration compressors, pumps, condensers, air handling units, cooling towers, and associated controls, wiring, and piping.
  • Locating sources of trouble in HVAC equipment through testing and inspection for mechanical or electrical failure. Dismantling, inspecting, repairing, replacing, or adjusting faulty parts, piping, and control wiring on HVAC equipment. Reassembling, testing, and adjusting equipment for proper operation. Performing filter changes as scheduled or required. Fabricating parts using machine and hand tools.
  • Receiving and interpreting drawings, diagrams, specifications, and instructions for repair, installation, and inspection work. Inspecting and testing HVAC equipment to determine damage and repair needs. Analyzing drawings, wiring, and pneumatic schematics to determine material needs and assembly specifications. Planning work procedures and identifying necessary tools and materials. Troubleshooting and repairing problems. Responding to trouble calls.
  • Adhering to all safety precautions and planning work to minimize operational interference. Performing work requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC principles. Maintaining performance and maintenance records of HVAC equipment.
  • Utilizing test equipment such as Voltmeter, die injection, pressure gauges, and gases.
  • Performing preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building equipment. Troubleshooting control issues and loading programs.
  • Performing other related duties as required.
  • Maintaining a current understanding of information security policies and procedures.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to patrons and maintaining a professional demeanor and work environment.
  • Meeting attendance guidelines and adhering to regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
  • Completing all required SGC Training programs within nine months of employment.
  • Attending all necessary meetings.
  • Understanding that duties, responsibilities, requirements, and expectations are subject to change as needed. Working hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule.
