The HVAC Systems Engineering Leader is responsible for leading and developing the long-range planning of the Engineering Team to support the broader offerings which JCI is bringing to our customers. These offerings are part of our growth strategies and would include Corporate Clients, Design Build, Fire & Security, Integration Solutions and Vertical Market Solutions. The role employs practices and develops processes to ensure cost effective engineering while providing consistent delivery and customer satisfaction. It involves teaming effectively with corporate, project field teams, sales teams, and Area Management. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 8-10 years of progressively more responsibility in the construction industry
  • Prior experience in supervision of a technical/engineering group
  • Understanding of accounting principles and cost management
  • Good oral and written communication skills, especially in the presentation of technical material

Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing the long-range planning of the Engineering Team to support the broader offerings which JCI is bringing to our customers.
  • Employing practices and developing processes to ensure cost effective engineering while providing consistent delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Teaming effectively with corporate, project field teams, sales teams, and Area Management.
  • Developing Engineering Team strategic business plan consistent with Systems & Services' account management plans, mission, and objectives.
  • Understanding the business environment of area markets and working with the Area Management Team to support this.
  • Developing strategies to deliver the "JCI Way" of field-tested standard applications that are reusable, installable, and serviceable.
  • Working with Sales to develop relationships with our customers that will help us penetrate the Design Build Market.
  • Reviewing with Sales Management the upcoming sales forecasts to make sure that the Engineering Team has the right quantity and ability of resources to effectively support the future work.
  • Managing and scheduling the workload of the engineering team.
  • Prioritizing work, supervising, and coordinating projects to ensure progress and timely completion of the engineering portion.
  • Providing timeframe estimates to project management for job cost evaluation.
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring, and communicating the Engineering team processes, strategies and standards.
  • Providing engineering input to assure proper project costs at pre-bid and upon project completion.
  • Working with and understanding financial, contract management and other management reports.
  • Maintaining high level of engineering standards.
  • Ensuring maximum reuse of designs and programs.
  • Developing and maintaining the area standard systems engineering library.
  • Mentoring and coordinating the development of team members.
  • Developing team employees through implementation of their personal development plans, goal setting and timely performance reviews.
  • Developing standards for material procurement.
  • Establishing and maintaining, with the cooperation of the Estimator, the Area's standard subset of materials.
  • Working with field installation teams to ensure timely delivery of contracted engineering to maximize execution.
  • Adhering to safety standards.
  • Having a high degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
