About The Position

The HVAC Specialist works at The Hershey Company’s union Hazleton Plant in Hazle Township, Pennsylvania, a high-speed food manufacturing facility. The role installs, maintains, diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, removes, balances, calibrates, and adjusts heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems throughout plant and office facilities. The qualified applicant must also have knowledge of electrical and HVAC theory. Work is performed inside and outside the food manufacturing facility and at the onsite Wastewater Treatment Plant. The position requires flexibility to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime according to plant needs. Employees begin on the designated training shift and may move to a different shift after qualification and based on seniority. Applicants must successfully complete an HVAC-specific written skills assessment. Employment offers are contingent on required post-offer drug screening and background checks.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED required.
At least three years of relevant HVAC experience, including electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, and industrial refrigeration.
Working knowledge of PLC controls, pneumatic controls, and building maintenance systems.
Universal certification for refrigerant recovery and usage.
Basic computer skills.
Must be flexible to work any shift and available for weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Must successfully complete the required HVAC-specific skills assessment.
Must pass post-offer drug screening and background checks.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, remove, balance, calibrate, and adjust heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and units throughout plant and office facilities.
Interpret blueprints, P&IDs, piping and electrical schematics, engineering sketches, standards, specifications, gauges, meters, graphs, charts, and reference tables.
Record equipment repairs, troubleshooting steps, parts used, and time spent accurately in the SAP work order system.
Check equipment located outside the plant, including walking, climbing, and bending in all weather conditions.
