The Mechanic HVAC Specialist, under direction, provides maintenance and preventative maintenance for HVAC equipment including boilers, air handling units, chillers, cooling towers, fans, and air compressors. This role operates and maintains the building automation control system for the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS). Responsibilities include assisting with locating and diagnosing maintenance problems, conducting warranty services, performing emergency repairs, monitoring chemical treatments for various systems, operating pneumatic equipment, assisting with HVAC system design, installation, maintenance, or repair, monitoring and responding to alarms, and troubleshooting failed components. The specialist will also assist in developing a comprehensive energy conservation program, providing an annual report and proposed plan of work, and ensuring proper training of personnel regarding safety and craft development. Additionally, the role involves routine inventory audits, analyzing historical data and market trends for stock purchasing reports, utilizing standardized procedures for work requests via the StarRez application, and implementing preventive maintenance for HVAC equipment such as filter changes, coil cleaning, and system checks. The position requires operating a TAMUCC vehicle or golf cart to navigate to and from worksites and performing other assigned duties.
