About The Position

Performs a wide variety of skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units as well as kitchen equipment for the Gaming Enterprise Division’s (GED) buildings and facilities. This is the second in a series of four (4) classifications. Incumbents work at a higher level of expertise than HVAC Specialist 1, exercise some judgment and independence in performance of duties, and may instruct others.

Requirements

  • High school or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • Five (5) years’ experience installing and maintaining commercial / industrial HVAC, cooling towers, water tube boilers, and high and low voltage electrical systems.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially Outlook and word processing, as well as departmental software program.
  • Must possess or obtain EPA 608 Universal Technician Certification within three (3) months of hire.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and initiative.
  • Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.
  • Must be able to work (may require shift changes), weekends, holidays, and special events), including overtime, as needed.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain, and retain a valid gaming license/background check.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the duties of HVAC Specialist 1.
  • Assists with troubleshooting, repairing, and servicing kitchen equipment such as refrigerators, fryers, and ovens.
  • Completes work orders for routine maintenance activities without supervision and in cooperation with other team members, when necessary; assists with completing complex maintenance activities with supervision.
  • Assists with maintaining a preventive maintenance program.
  • Assists with completing preventive maintenance work orders on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedule.
  • Responds to after-hours emergency calls, as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Maintains tools and supplies for proper repair and replacement when needed.
  • Ensures all work performed meets with departmental, GED, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Promotes preventive maintenance as a strategy in maintaining electronic test equipment and mechanical tools by keeping accurate records on each piece of equipment indicating all required and performed maintenance, performing spot checks of equipment to determine their working condition, and scheduling and supervising the periodic cleaning and servicing of tools and equipment.
  • Focuses on customer needs and customer satisfaction, projects a positive customer service environment to both internal and external customers, and promotes and encourages an attitude of exemplary customer service and high integrity to all of the staff within Facilities Management.
  • Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, and attending professional development courses, training meetings, and other courses as assigned.
  • Contributes to the overall success of Facilities Maintenance by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Required to use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assists with completing required paperwork on a timely basis.
  • Operates maintenance equipment safely and correctly.
  • Checks that all equipment is in working condition on a regular basis and makes minor repairs; reports major issues to supervisor.
  • Assists with inspecting the work of others, when requested.
  • Assists with training team members, when requested.
  • Follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies; uses as directed.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, order, and install correct parts needed to repair and maintain equipment properly.
  • Perform skilled maintenance and repair work in one or more building trades, including electrical, plumbing, kitchen appliances and general mechanics.
  • Support property operations by responding promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Perform (HVAC) work in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of high- and low-pressure refrigerant systems, by inspecting and testing those systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions, performing required repairs through replacement of inoperative parts or adjustment of thermostatic controls and blowers, and providing an estimate of repair (and/or replacement) costs beyond the capability to perform.
  • Ensures that HVAC systems provide an appropriate living and working environmental for the property by troubleshooting and repairing control devices and wiring within the HVAC primary system, and maintaining, repairing, modifying secondary refrigerant systems including pumps, valves, cooling, air moving equipment and local temperature/pressure controls.
  • Contributes to efficient and effective HVAC operations by advising the supervisor on the quantity and types of materials that should be ordered and stocked for use in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects.
  • Provides technical assistance on the purchase of new or replacement mechanical equipment or systems by reviewing and preparing equipment specifications, and advising the HVAC Supervisor on equipment capability and compatibility, installation requirements and costs, and potential operations and maintenance expenses.
  • Assists with documenting and reporting of heating, ventilation and air conditioning maintenance repairs and services by providing daily status reports to the supervisor.
  • Responds to maintenance issues throughout the properties.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas at all times.
  • Supports and enforces departmental as well as the GED’s policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory policies, such as completion of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Turns in found articles in accordance with Facilities and GED policies and procedures.
  • Attends periodic departmental and GED meetings; attends professional and personal development training programs.
  • Ensures uniform and personal appearance is clean and professional.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
