The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for, safely and neatly, evaluating and repairing existing HVAC equipment, while leaving a positive impression on the homeowner. The various tasks, duties and responsibilities commonly carried out by HVAC Service Technician are highlighted below: Perform thorough evaluations of existing HVAC equipment, not only to figure out why it is not working, but to also look for future issues. Decide whether it is better to repair or replace equipment and confidently relay information to homeowners. Read and understand wiring diagrams and technical manuals. Properly use many different meters, gauges and tools in order to effectively evaluate the status of equipment. Safely and neatly remove faulty parts and reinstall new parts without damage to other parts of the system. Perform repairs of copper refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering. Use problem solving skills and make adaptions in order to repair equipment. Determine the right material needed to complete repairs. Keep track of parts on company vans and restock as needed. Maintain company vehicle appearance. Properly relay information via phone to other technicians, supervisors or manufacturer representatives, in order to collaborate on solutions. Communicate with homeowner and be able to explain issues in a manner they can understand. Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure homeowner comfort by the end of the day Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time. Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and homeowners. Ensure all paperwork needed for each day is accurately filled out. Collect payment and return to office in a responsible manner. Maintain a clean, presentable appearance at all times. Take pride in a high-quality evaluation and repair. Stay up to date on the latest innovations in the industry and maintain EPA and NATE Certifications.
