The HVAC Senior Controls Technician properly installs heating and air-conditioning equipment, as well as providing diagnostics or repair services on climate control systems. Customer relations are a vital part of the HVAC Senior Control Technician’s job, since technicians consult with clients to discern their needs, examine the facilities the system will be installed in and make recommendations prior to installation. HVAC Senior Control Technicians inspect units for defective parts and diagnose malfunctions: repairs or replaces ill system components, conducts preventive maintenance checks on electrical controls, air handling units, exhaust fans, cooling towers, chillers, and pneumatic controls, and installs new and replacement air-conditioning ventilation and heating systems and equipment controls. Senior Control Technicians will also be responsible for inspecting heating and air-conditioning controls equipment for code compliance, performing preventive maintenance for all equipment, maintaining related records, filing reports for assigned work, ordering heating and air-conditioning parts and supplies within guidelines of the ECS purchasing policies, and connecting unit components and air controls to control panels and power sources: adjusting pressure and vacuum gauges as necessary. Essential job duties also include programming, commissioning, and servicing all aspects of HVAC controls systems and documents accordingly, integrate to existing systems and connects them to new controls interfaces for the customer, and responds to emergency service requests as a participant in division’s on-call program.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of HVAC experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job
  • Must have at least 3 years experience with Siemens Apogee BACnet Controls
  • Must be Niagara AX certified, or Niagara N4 certified
  • Knowledge of blueprints, electrical codes, mechanical designs, and wiring diagrams
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends and travel as required
  • May be required to work on religious holidays
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ECS’s safe driving policy
