About The Position

The HVAC Safety Technician is an entry-level position that will support our HVAC Department. Ensuring that heating, ventilation, and air conditioning operations comply with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Education – no minimum education requirements.
  • Experience – entry level
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check, as a condition of employment.
  • Must have OSHA 10 certification or be willing to go to company provided training.

Responsibilities

  • Entry level position focusing on life-safety components in HVAC systems.
  • Comply with OSHA regulations and building codes.
  • Oversee lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for energized electrical systems and enforce strict personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Monitor the safe handling, recovery, and disposal of hazardous refrigerants in accordance with EPA standards.
  • Inspect ventilation in environments that involve flammable gases and dust.
  • Identify hazards, enforce safety regarding high-voltage electricity and refrigerants.
  • Investigate on-site accidents or equipment failures, documenting causes and implementing corrective measures.
  • Provide HVAC team training regarding hazardous material handling, confined space work, and ladder safety.
  • Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC equipment.
  • Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time.
