About The Position

The HVAC Reliability Technician, Mission Critical Services is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, basic troubleshooting, and minor repairs on HVAC and critical cooling systems within data center environments. This role supports equipment reliability, system performance, and operational uptime through the execution of maintenance programs and the early identification of equipment deficiencies. The technician is expected to work independently on scheduled maintenance activities while continuing to develop technical knowledge of mission critical cooling systems, controls, and associated infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Understanding of psychrometrics and HVAC system operation.
  • Understanding of refrigeration fundamentals and refrigerant diagnostics.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC control systems and BAS/BMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with CRAC units, CRAH units, air handlers, pumps, and associated cooling equipment.
  • Ability to independently perform scheduled maintenance and routine troubleshooting activities.
  • High School Diploma, GED required.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of commercial or industrial HVAC experience required.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or Trade School training preferred.
  • Experience working with controls, refrigeration systems, and commercial HVAC equipment strongly preferred.
  • Data center or mission critical experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manufacturer recommended and site-specific preventive maintenance on mission critical HVAC equipment.
  • Complete maintenance procedures on CRAC units, CRAH units, air handlers, pumps, split systems, package units, and associated cooling equipment.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, deterioration, abnormal operating conditions, and reliability concerns.
  • Replace routine maintenance components including belts, filters, contactors, sensors, and other common wear items.
  • Support startup verification and post-maintenance operational checks.
  • Utilize BAS/BMS platforms to review equipment operation and identify abnormal conditions.
  • Record maintenance findings, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Assist with equipment condition assessments and reliability reviews.
  • Monitor alarms and report issues requiring corrective action.
  • Troubleshoot routine HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, and controls issues.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams and equipment schematics.
  • Diagnose refrigerant system issues and common equipment faults.
  • Perform minor repairs and coordinate escalation of complex issues requiring advanced technical support.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout, refrigerant handling, electrical safety, and customer safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Adhere to all mission critical operating procedures and site requirements.
  • Execute other related duties as needed or assigned to support evolving business priorities.
