About The Position

As a licensed and experienced HVAC/Refrigeration Technician, you will help us maintain our commercial properties. You will provide quality maintenance repairs, ensuring our equipment/buildings are operating properly and efficiently. You will service and repair the environmental control systems and equipment such as heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (“HVAC”) systems, heat pumps, and chillers installed in building managed by the Marine Maintenance team. You will visit customers throughout the Maritime division in order to service and repair equipment and respond to emergencies immediately and drive a Port vehicle that will contain Port tools. You will represent the Port while performing repair, maintenance, and delivering excellent customer service to our internal and external customers throughout the Port.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVACR systems; Or two (2) years of technical school HVACR coursework; Or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class, relative to the required licenses.
  • City of Seattle Refrigeration Mechanic’s License class A - requires three (3) years of experience conducting refrigeration repair and installation, as an apprentice to, or as a journeyman refrigeration and/or air conditioning mechanic; or two (2) years of training in a recognized school of technology, combined with one (1) year of experience in the refrigeration trade; or two (2) years full-time experience in the refrigeration trade and graduation from a recognized trade school of refrigeration technology.
  • EL06A Washington State Electrician Specialty License - requires a minimum of 4,000 hours of work experience under the supervision of a journey-level electrician.
  • EPA CFC Universal Certificate - requires you to pass each of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) tests for Types Core, I, II and III.
  • Strong technical knowledge in a variety of commercial HVAC systems and designs.
  • Knowledge of environmental refrigerant laws and other applicable regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills with regard to adapting to a multitude of interpersonal situations, and clearly relaying and synthesizing information.
  • Customer service oriented; understand and anticipate customer needs with the ability to deliver service with care and calmness under pressure during stressful/emergent situations.
