About The Position

The HVAC / Refrigeration Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations related to refrigeration system assembly and mechanical piping within the HVAC manufacturing department. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and high-quality fabrication, brazing, and installation of refrigeration circuits and piping systems in custom commercial HVAC equipment. The position requires strong refrigeration and mechanical systems expertise combined with effective people leadership. The HVAC / Refrigeration Production Supervisor works closely with engineering, production planning, and quality teams to ensure refrigeration systems are assembled accurately and meet engineering specifications and performance requirements. This role serves as the operational leader for refrigeration and piping activities within the HVAC production area.

Requirements

  • Technical degree in HVAC, Refrigeration Technology, Mechanical Systems, or related field preferred.
  • Strong HVAC and refrigeration industry experience required, preferably in commercial or industrial HVAC equipment manufacturing or installation.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or technical environment preferred.
  • Solid understanding of refrigeration systems including compressors, coils, expansion devices, piping, and airflow systems.
  • Experience with copper piping, brazing, refrigeration circuit assembly, and leak prevention best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, refrigeration schematics, and HVAC layouts.
  • Familiarity with custom equipment manufacturing or engineered-to-order products preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, and operational workflow principles.
  • Effective communication, conflict resolution, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and manage multiple priorities.
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency for reporting, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Experience working with ERP systems, production scheduling tools, or manufacturing systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce and promote all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, with emphasis on refrigerant handling, brazing safety, and mechanical work practices.
  • Lead daily operations related to refrigeration system assembly including copper piping, brazing, component installation, and system preparation for testing.
  • Supervise production personnel responsible for piping, brazing, refrigeration component installation, and mechanical assembly.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, refrigeration schematics, and piping layouts to ensure proper unit assembly and manufacturing accuracy.
  • Ensure refrigeration circuits are built according to engineering specifications, quality standards, and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering teams to resolve design questions, improve manufacturability, and address technical issues during production.
  • Manage staffing levels and workflow priorities to meet production schedules and delivery targets.
  • Hold team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and adherence to manufacturing standards.
  • Conduct training, coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary actions when required.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and development of HVAC production personnel.
  • Monitor production performance metrics, quality performance, and rework trends; initiate corrective actions when targets are not met.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges related to refrigeration components, piping systems, coils, compressors, and airflow components.
  • Lead shift meetings and communicate priorities, updates, and expectations clearly to the team.
  • Drive adherence to workplace organization standards (5S) and promote efficient work practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve refrigeration system assembly, piping efficiency, and product quality.
  • Ensure proper material handling, equipment operation, and documentation compliance within the HVAC department
  • Maintain accurate records related to production output, personnel, safety incidents, and quality performance.
  • Support cross-department collaboration and operational coverage as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
