About The Position
The HVAC/Refrigeration Master Mechanic performs major repairs on all types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration equipment at the Southern University Baton Rouge Campus.
Requirements
- Three years of experience or training in the installation and/or maintenance of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning systems.
Responsibilities
- Operates and performs maintenance and preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
- Repairs central a/c units, window a/c units, fans, cooling towers, refrigerators, air handlers, freezers, heaters and boilers.
- Overhauls and repairs pump compressors.
- Installs compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, pumps, valves, controls other units that comprise A/C and Refrigerating systems.
- Cleans and changes air filters.
- Troubleshoots and install motor starters on related equipment.
- Charges systems with oil and refrigerants.
- Requisitions parts and materials.
- Adjust and calibrates controls.
- Performs other related work as directed or required.
