About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the HVAC/R supervisor with the maintenance of Authority properties by performing a variety of tasks relating to the inspection, installation, and repair of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment. All activities must support the Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority (“LMHA” or “Authority”) mission, strategic goals, and objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the installation, service, and repair of HVAC systems.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio or Michigan driver’s license and be insurable under the Authority’s plan.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to learn other programs as required by assigned tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in HVAC/R from an accredited trade school preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, analyzes, installs, and repairs HVAC/R systems, including air conditioning units, heat pumps, condensing units, food storage refrigerators, and related equipment following trade practices and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair on HVAC/R systems.
  • Performs initial tests and inspections for the maintenance of appliances and recommends the shutdown of equipment for repair, major overhaul, or replacement as necessary.
  • Documents and submits work records regarding repairs completed, materials used, and time needed to complete repair.
  • Performs minor cleaning and fumigation of appliances in preparation for recycling.
  • Develops and maintains CFC (chlorinated fluorocarbons) log manuals.
  • Assists the HVAC supervisor in the shipment tracking of appliances and provides updates to the main office.
  • Assists with loading, transporting, and unloading of appliances.
  • Performs after-hours emergency service on a scheduled or rotating basis.
  • Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA/PERRP safety standards that pertain to essential functions and maintains licenses and certifications as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
