About The Position

The HVAC/R Install Technician is responsible for the installation, replacement, modification, and commissioning of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems. This position performs equipment installations, piping, ductwork, controls integration, and system start-ups while ensuring all work meets applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company quality standards. The technician works closely with project managers, plumbers, electricians, and other trades to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Requirements

3+ years of commercial HVAC/R installation experience preferred
EPA Certification required or ability to obtain within an established timeframe
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Strong understanding of HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings
Experience using installation tools, testing equipment, and fabrication equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in confined spaces, rooftops, and elevated work areas

Nice To Haves

Commercial refrigeration installation experience
Experience with boilers, hydronic heating systems, and chilled water systems
Controls installation and startup experience
Brazing and soldering certifications
OSHA safety training
Equipment rigging and startup experience
Manufacturer certifications or factory training

Responsibilities

Install commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment including rooftop units, split systems, boilers, chillers, condensers, air handlers, and refrigeration systems
Perform equipment replacements, upgrades, and new construction installations
Install refrigerant piping, condensate piping, ductwork, controls wiring, and associated system components
Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, submittals, and mechanical drawings
Assist with rigging, placement, and securing of equipment
Perform brazing, soldering, pipe fitting, and mechanical assembly as required
Conduct pressure testing, evacuation, charging, and system start-up procedures
Verify proper system operation and assist with commissioning activities
Coordinate installation activities with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades
Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, manufacturer requirements, and company safety policies
Complete required installation documentation, equipment startup forms, and project reports
Communicate project status, material needs, and installation challenges to supervisors and project teams
