About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in the year-round operation, maintenance, and repair of all HVAC-related mechanical systems essential for the continuous operation of NYU Langone - Long Island Hospital. This includes, but is not limited to, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems (chillers, cooling towers, pumps, rooftop units, fans, motors, compressors, etc.); temperature control systems (pneumatic and direct-digital control); medical gas systems (supply and distribution); the pneumatic tube system; refrigeration equipment; and any other system or equipment under the purview of the Engineering Department's HVAC Shop.

Requirements

• High School or GED.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in the building maintenance or plant operations field, preferably in healthcare.
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

• Technical Diploma from an appropriate Trade/Vocation School.
• Current NYS CFC refrigerant license.
• Valid Medical Gas Installer Certification (Newly hired employees will have one year from their date of hire to obtain this certification).

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs to medical gas system equipment and components.
• Troubleshoots HVAC and refrigeration related problems and issues, performing necessary repairs or corrective measures.
• Performs repairs to HVAC and refrigeration systems and equipment accurately with attention to detail and minimal callbacks.
• Demonstrates proficiency and skill in working with various HVAC equipment, tools, and materials.
• Performs assigned Preventive Maintenance on HVAC and/or refrigeration equipment and systems.
• Performs repairs to the pneumatic tube system as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
