About The Position

A Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Mechanic inspects, adjusts, repairs and maintains equipment to preserve constant and dependable indoor air comfort and critical or laboratory environments.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Qualified journeyman in accordance of union rules.

Responsibilities

  • Understand completely the operation of, and be proficient in, the repair of direct expansion and chilled water-based cooling systems.
  • Understand the operation of, and be proficient in the repair of, complex centrifugal chillers.
  • Employ test equipment including electrical multi-meters, air and water flow meters, and temperature and pressure sensors to diagnose environmental control system malfunction.
  • Be formally certified to handle, procure, introduce, and recover CFC, HFC, and HCFC refrigerants.
  • Specialize in the operation and maintenance of pneumatic and electronic direct digital control systems. This includes the ability to operate and program computerized hand-held service tools in the test, commissioning and repair of electronic programmable controllers.
  • Understand completely the operation of, and is proficient in, the repair of large air handlers. This includes the capability to test and balance large air distribution systems.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and demonstrate the ability to frequently lift loads in excess of 50 lbs.
  • Be prepared to work shift work, including weekends and overtime when required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
