HVAC Mechanic III
About The Position
The HVAC Mechanic III will perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment including AHUs, Chillers, Cooling Towers, VAVs, Heaters, Boilers, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Coolers, and Freezers. This role involves conducting routine inspections to prevent breakdowns, using tools to troubleshoot and repair systems, and following blueprints and specifications. The mechanic will install, service, modify, rebuild, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems, adhering to building codes and safety regulations. Responsibilities also include monitoring and maintaining centralized HVAC building automation systems, documenting maintenance activities, and working on-call. Physical capabilities include working at heights, lifting over 50 lbs, and following instructions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4 years of experience in HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Must own Basic HVAC Tools.
- Must possess a Universal EPA License 608
- Must possess an Active California Driver's License.
- Ability to work 9/80A Schedule.
- Experience working in one or more of the maintenance trades: machine and equipment repair, machine controls, and/or electrical.
- Familiarity with electrical/electronic components related to air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
- Experience working within a Central Plant.

- Good communication skills and experience with Microsoft Outlook.
- Experience working on HVAC equipment in a manufacturing environment that serves production machines.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment (AHUs, Chillers, Cooling Towers, VAVs, Heaters, Boilers, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Coolers, Freezers).
- Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine necessary repair and maintenance work to prevent breakdowns.
- Use hand and power tools to troubleshoot, test, inspect, and repair machines and equipment.
- Review and follow blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
- Install, service, modify, rebuild, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
- Monitor and maintain centralized HVAC building automation systems, including pneumatic systems and direct digital control.
- Document and maintain records for the Maintenance Department, including preventive maintenance activities and service reports.
- Be physically capable of working in high places from ladders, able to lift over 50 lbs, and follow exacting written and verbal instructions.
- Work on an on-call basis and handle responsibilities assigned by management.
