About The Position

Installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems in accordance with established procedures. This role involves routine inspection of motors, compressors, temperature, humidity controls, and electrical systems, repairing or replacing broken parts, performing preventative maintenance, identifying and correcting defective systems, and planning and installing HVAC components within buildings. The position also requires maintaining a safe work and storage area by cleaning, organizing, storing tools and materials, and adhering to safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D, or 2 years of work experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
  • 2 years of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration experience
  • HVAC/R EPA Universal Certificate
  • Proficiency in HVAC building code requirements
  • Proficiency in building automation systems
  • Ability to diagnose and repair malfunctioning compressors, motors and temperature controls
  • Ability to replace damaged or broken wires, cables, and turbines
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply technical information from manuals, drawings, schematics and blue-prints
  • Ability to document and track assignments through a shop log or work order system
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • Ability to read in the English language
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and measurements
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, crawl, bend, kneel and reach
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts
  • Ability to work in small spaces
  • Ability to appear for work on time
  • Ability to work in a smoking environment

Responsibilities

  • Installs and maintains HVAC equipment by routinely inspecting motors, compressors, temperature, humidity controls, and electrical systems.
  • Repairs or replaces broken or defective parts and fixtures.
  • Performs preventative maintenance services on breakers, compressors, transformers, and pressure gages.
  • Identifies and corrects defective or damaged systems.
  • Plans and installs evaporator units, pipes, tubing, conduit and thermostats in the buildings as needed.
  • Maintains safe work and storage area by cleaning and organizing designated storage area.
  • Stores tools and materials.
  • Repairs or replaces old or broken tools following established procedures.
  • Follows established safety standards while using tools.
