About The Position

Popeyes is looking for a reliable and experienced HVAC Maintenance Technician to join our in-house maintenance team. This position will focus primarily on preventive maintenance, inspections, cleaning, and routine service of restaurant HVAC and refrigeration systems across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, understands commercial rooftop HVAC and refrigeration equipment, and takes a proactive approach to identifying potential problems before they become costly repairs or restaurant disruptions.

Requirements

  • Commercial HVAC and/or refrigeration experience required
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and commercial HVAC systems
  • Ability to diagnose basic HVAC/refrigeration issues and recognize when specialized repair is needed
  • Familiarity with coils, filters, motors, fans, belts, thermostats, condensate systems, refrigeration components, and electrical controls
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and HVAC service equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on rooftops, ladders, and in confined areas
  • Dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to travel between multiple restaurant locations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience servicing rooftop HVAC units and restaurant refrigeration equipment preferred
  • EPA certification preferred/required as applicable to the work performed

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on commercial rooftop HVAC units
  • Inspect HVAC units, electrical components, motors, belts, fans, coils, drains, and other components for proper operation
  • Clean condenser and evaporator coils as part of routine PM service
  • Check refrigerant systems and identify signs of leaks or performance issues
  • Inspect and clean condensate drains and pans
  • Inspect blower motors, fan assemblies, belts, bearings, and other moving components
  • Check thermostats and controls for proper operation
  • Inspect ductwork, dampers, vents, and registers
  • Replace HVAC filters according to the required monthly service schedule
  • Perform seasonal tune-ups and general HVAC inspections
  • Identify equipment showing signs of failure and report recommended repairs or replacement needs
  • Maintain accurate records of completed PM services and equipment conditions
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on walk-in coolers and freezers
  • Inspect and clean condenser coils and evaporator coils
  • Check evaporator fans, condenser fans, motors, and other refrigeration components
  • Inspect door gaskets, hinges, closers, and door sweeps for proper sealing
  • Check temperature operation and identify units that are not maintaining proper temperatures
  • Inspect defrost systems, drains, drain lines, and condensate components
  • Clean and maintain accessible refrigeration components
  • Identify frost buildup, icing, water leaks, unusual noises, or other signs of potential equipment problems
  • Perform routine maintenance on reach-in coolers, freezers, prep coolers, and other indoor refrigeration equipment
  • Inspect the indoor components of walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer systems
  • Complete scheduled monthly PM services at assigned restaurant locations
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and document findings
  • Identify minor issues before they develop into emergency repairs
  • Maintain clean and organized HVAC/refrigeration work areas
  • Keep tools, equipment, and service supplies properly maintained
  • Communicate equipment issues and recommended repairs to management
  • Coordinate with outside HVAC/refrigeration vendors when repairs require specialized service
  • Maintain accurate service records, including filters changed, coils cleaned, inspections completed, and repairs recommended
  • Perform facility walk-throughs to identify HVAC, refrigeration, or temperature-related concerns
