About The Position

Supports the testing of refrigeration equipment, both for industrial and commercial applications, by working closely with our Engineering Groups for research and development activities, as well as our Service Department for field related issues. The core focus of this testing facility is to prove out new, or changes to existing, screw compressor product lines before they are released for production. Technicians will be exposed to various refrigeration systems and associated auxiliary equipment utilized to test these compressors.

Requirements

  • Firm understanding of the refrigeration cycle and its components.
  • Well versed in AC and DC circuitry.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Self-driven individual.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and works well with others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Applications.
  • Ability to lift no more than 50 pounds.
  • U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 608 Certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehend and apply information from Test Request documents, which outline testing objectives, methods, instrumentation, and duration.
  • Perform electrical connections (no voltage higher than 480VAC 3 phase) and motor alignments for both open drive and hermetic compressors.
  • Make connections to compressors using carbon steel pipes (1 inch to 16 inches in diameter), utilizing cranes and other lifting devices for pipework manipulation.
  • Make small peripheral connections with either hose or rigid tubing.
  • Perform calibrations for various forms of instrumentation and associated equipment.
  • Pressure test systems, pull vacuum, and charge systems with refrigerant, ensuring proper techniques and thresholds are met.
  • Safely handle and transfer various refrigerants while complying with company and regulatory standards.
  • Understand system operations and manipulate them to achieve desired conditions set forth by engineering.
  • Ensure collected data meets Test Lab Standards.
  • Conduct material compatibility testing.
  • Perform component testing (valves, transmitters, VFD’s, etc.).
  • Assemble compressor prototypes.
  • Perform system maintenance.
  • Conduct safety inspections.
  • Layout and implement controls.
