About The Position

The Commercial Union HVAC Journeyman performs maintenance, repairs, and installation of assigned HVAC and refrigeration equipment in accordance with ABM client expectations and requests. Equipment and systems include controls, chilled water systems, boilers, package units up to 130 tons, split systems, and other mechanical, electrical, and building systems. The position is associated with Union - Local 636. Candidates with a valid Michigan State HVAC license may be eligible for additional compensation. ABM encourages veterans and candidates with military experience to apply.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of field-based commercial or industrial HVAC experience supporting multiple client sites.
• Must be willing to organize with the Local 636 Union if not already a member.
• EPA Universal certification.
• Refrigeration/HVAC trade or vocational certification.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license.

Nice To Haves

• A valid Michigan State HVAC license may qualify candidates for additional compensation.
• Veterans and candidates with military experience are encouraged to apply; listed Military Occupational Specialty Codes are 91E, 91C, EM, HT, MK, DC, 1161, 1341, and 3E1X1.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, calibrate, and adjust pilots, thermostats, burners, transformers, controls, relays, heaters, elements, and switches on electrical systems.
• Use common HVAC trade tools in daily work, including multimeters, refrigerant gauges, charging charts, and hand tools.
• Install, maintain, and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
• Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults in HVAC systems.
• Clean, adjust, and repair systems, and perform warranty services.
• Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
• Provide technical direction and on-the-job training.
• Keep daily logs and records of maintenance functions.
• Ensure compliance with appliance standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Comply with service standards, work instructions, and customer requirements.
• Assist with customer queries and inquiries.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
