About The Position

As You Wish Electric, Plumbing, Heating & Air is hiring an HVAC Install Helper to work on residential retrofits and some light commercial projects. The role is field-based, traveling to customer homes with a crew of 2–3 and working under the direction of a Lead Installer. Helpers assist with removal and installation of heating and cooling systems, ductwork, wiring, refrigeration lines, venting, and system commissioning. The work typically involves 1–2 jobs per day.

The position includes a Monday-through-Friday schedule, weekly pay, and training. The company provides uniforms and covers truck expenses, including fuel, service fees, and tolls. Compensation is $22–$27 per hour, depending on skills.

Requirements

• Previous HVAC in-field experience is required; schooling experience alone does not satisfy this requirement.
• Physical ability to perform 8–10 hours of manual labor per day.
• Comfort lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, working in tight spaces, and working in any weather.
• Strong communication skills to explain installations clearly to customers.

Responsibilities

• Organize, load, and clean the truck before each job.
• Lay out supplies and prepare the vehicle for installation.
• Level the ground and position the outdoor unit pad.
• Assist with installing line sets and ductless mini-splits, including refrigerant lines, line hides, drains, and wiring.
• Assist with brazing piping connections.
• Cut wall penetrations, mount thermostats, and connect high- and low-voltage wiring.
• Assist with commissioning unitary forced-air, ductless, and communicating systems.
• Remove old units and install new heating and cooling systems.
• Run wires through walls; fabricate and install custom ductwork; set up refrigeration lines and replace venting.
• Clean the job site, inside and out.
• Explain installations clearly to customers.
