About The Position

HVAC Install Helper – Commission Ready to build a career in HVAC while learning directly from experienced professionals? Berkeys is looking for a motivated HVAC Install Helper to support residential HVAC installation and replacement projects. You’ll work alongside an experienced Install Lead, gain hands-on experience with HVAC equipment and installation practices, and develop the technical skills needed to advance in the trade. This commission-based opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes direction well, and wants their effort, efficiency, and growth to influence their earning potential. Average Annual Compensation on all commission: $50K-$75K/year

  • Current TDLR Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician registration required.
  • EPA Section 608 certification required when handling refrigerants; Universal certification is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must maintain all certifications, registrations, and continuing education required for assigned work.
  • Work in attics, crawlspaces, garages, mechanical areas, and indoor and outdoor jobsites.
  • Work in hot, cold, humid, dusty, and poorly ventilated environments.
  • Climb ladders and safely enter and exit vans, box trucks, and restricted workspaces.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Independently lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Move heavier equipment using lifting equipment or team-lifting procedures.
  • Work around refrigerants, electrical components, power tools, moving equipment, fumes, and other typical HVAC jobsite conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous HVAC, construction, mechanical, electrical, warehouse, or skilled-trades experience is preferred but not required.
  • Candidates actively working toward required certifications may be considered based on company requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Install Lead with residential HVAC installations and equipment replacements.
  • Help remove and transport existing HVAC equipment safely.
  • Load, unload, stage, and organize equipment, tools, parts, and installation materials.
  • Assist with installing furnaces, air handlers, evaporator coils, condensers, heat pumps, thermostats, drain systems, refrigerant lines, and related components.
  • Support ductwork, plenum, transition, equipment-pad, drain-line, and supply and return modifications.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, seal, secure, and insulate materials as directed.
  • Assist with refrigerant recovery, brazing, pressure testing, evacuation, charging, wiring, startup, and commissioning within the limits of your training and certifications.
  • Learn to use hand tools, power tools, testing instruments, recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, gauges, meters, and brazing equipment safely.
  • Protect customers’ floors, walls, furnishings, landscaping, and other property.
  • Keep tools, materials, vehicles, and jobsites clean, organized, and safe.
  • Remove old equipment, packaging, and installation debris.
  • Assist with recording equipment information, taking required photographs, and completing job documentation.
  • Participate in technical, safety, manufacturer, and customer-service training.
  • Apply coaching from the Install Lead and demonstrate continued technical growth.
  • Follow all company, OSHA, manufacturer, environmental, and jobsite safety requirements.
