The HVAC Service Manager (as described in the position summary) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the HVAC service department. This role involves managing technicians, ensuring high-quality service delivery, maintaining customer satisfaction, and driving department profitability. The manager also ensures compliance with safety regulations, company standards, and industry best practices, while supporting team development and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 3–7+ years of experience in HVAC estimating and/or project management
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation methods, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., FastPIPE, Trimble, Bluebeam)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to prepare detailed HVAC cost estimates
  • Perform take-offs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids
  • Prepare and submit competitive proposals and bid packages
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality
  • Maintain estimating database and historical cost records
  • Oversee HVAC projects from award through closeout
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and timelines
  • Coordinate with clients, general contractors, engineers, and internal teams
  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment
  • Track project progress, costs, and change orders
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, codes, and safety standards
  • Conduct site visits and attend project meetings
  • Resolve project issues and mitigate risks
  • Monitor job costs and profitability
  • Prepare and review RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Assist with billing, invoicing, and project reporting
  • Maintain project documentation and records
