About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering Team. In this role, you will tackle complex engineering challenges, lead improvement projects, review system designs, and manage critical projects on Exhaust and Process Systems. You will also oversee daily operations and maintenance to enhance system quality, reliability, and efficiency, directly supporting the high-precision operations of a semiconductor wafer fab. You will work to tackle our complex problems, initiate capacity improvement projects, review designs, and manage projects while developing strategies and roadmaps for improving quality and reliability. The Exhaust Team, a vital part of our Facilities engineering structure, manages a diverse range of systems, including Compressed Dry Air (CDA, IA), Acid/Alkali Scrubbed Exhaust, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Exhaust, Heat/General (H/G) Exhaust, Emergency and Smoke Exhaust, Process Vacuum (PVAC), and Clean Vacuum (CVAC). These systems are critical to maintaining uninterrupted operations, as they are designed to run 24/7, 365 days a year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience.
  • Previous experience in plant operations, reliability engineering, or design engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, mentor, and influence a team of 5+ engineers and project managers, fostering a collaborative and safety-conscious work environment.
  • Promote a process safety mindset and ensure compliance with site air permits, driving abatement efficiencies to meet world-class standards. Oversee equipment quality to meet fab production requirements.
  • Oversee project development and execution within the exhaust systems scope, including project management, engineering design, cost estimating, financial management, and system documentation.
  • Provide day-to-day support for operational, maintenance, and engineering issues within Facilities Operations Maintenance (FOM). Monitor and address quality and capacity concerns across systems. Seeks out innovative concepts/technologies to improve system and operational efficiency.
  • Forecast system capacity needs based on current and future demand projections, and develop plans to accommodate these needs through capital improvement projects. Provide guidance to personnel, management, and executives on technical projects and large-scale changes.
  • Lead root cause analysis and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to in contain and correct problems. Lead Task Force Teams (TFT) to solve critical inter-departmental problems or initiatives.
  • Implement processes & procedures to improve and standardize work across the team & site
  • Contribute to the industry through professional organizations and conferences, sharing insights and best practices.
