Trane Technologies is hiring an HVAC Digital Services Technician (HVAC Automation/Controls) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for commissioning, programming, diagnosing HVAC controls for air conditioning and/or chiller systems in buildings. This position is field-based, meaning work is conducted on-site at customer locations. The role involves utilizing advanced analytics and artificial intelligence systems to optimize buildings, servicing assigned equipment and projects, and ensuring customer satisfaction. You will use hand tools and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to diagnose and perform repairs, analyze, diagnose, and repair customer systems and equipment, and perform preventive maintenance, site reconnaissance, replacements, and modifications as needed or requested by customers. Prior to work and repairs on-site, you will review equipment layout, anticipate difficulties, gather necessary materials, and coordinate work as needed. You will represent the company by serving as direct contact with customers, provide training to customers, and provide sales leads to account managers. Identifying parts to order for jobs and timing for placing orders, documenting material, parts, work, and all costs associated with each task, and returning unused resources are also key responsibilities. You will provide documents and reports within prescribed deadlines and keep knowledge up to date on installation, maintenance, operation, service, and repair of Trane products with ongoing training provided by Trane. Reading and interpreting specifications, drawings, and product and building designs, and providing technical support to customers are essential. You may be required to supervise apprentice technicians. Occasionally travel with overnight stays may be required. Must be available for overtime and/or weekend work as needed. Expertise with advanced digital tools and connected technologies is crucial, focusing on installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and servicing building automation systems while leveraging digital platforms to improve accuracy, efficiency, and customer experience. This includes installing, configuring, and commissioning Trane HVAC controls, using digital tools, wireless sensors, mobile apps, and connected service platforms to perform diagnostics and system checks, troubleshooting electrical and controls issues in the field, performing preventive and corrective maintenance and verifying safe, efficient system operation, supporting remote diagnostic teams by capturing data, performing onsite tests, and implementing recommended actions, documenting service activities digitally through Trane’s service systems, and educating customers on system operation, digital features, and connected capabilities. Ensuring compliance with safety standards, environmental requirements, and Trane service procedures is also a requirement. This role enhances field service effectiveness by integrating digital capabilities with hands-on technical expertise, resulting in faster problem resolution, better data quality, and improved customer outcomes.
