About The Position

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced HVAC mechanic to join their growing North America HVAC business as part of the Travel Team. This role involves working on advanced commercial HVAC systems in critical environments such as hospitals, data centers, and manufacturing facilities. The position offers the opportunity to work with the latest building automation technologies, troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment, and serve as a trusted expert to customers. The company prioritizes safety, provides comprehensive training, and invests in employee success through programs like the Service Technical Academy. This is a Bargaining Unit Position with a pay range of $24.23 - $25.84 hourly, with benefits provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience working on commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting a range of equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, compressors, and related systems.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems, including alignment and vibration diagnostics.
  • Ability to clearly communicate system issues and solutions to teammates and customers.
  • Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time as part of the Travel Team.
  • Universal EPA refrigerant license.
  • Openness to travel as needed.
  • Participation in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices.
  • Hands-on HVAC professional who enjoys solving problems and takes pride in quality work.
  • Desire to keep learning and sharing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting and repairs of advanced commercial HVAC systems.
  • Full system installations.
  • Working with a wide range of equipment including chillers, compressors, pumps, rooftop units, and building automation systems.
  • Using modern tools like laser alignment and vibration analysis.
  • Diagnosing issues, explaining solutions to customers, and ensuring system efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborating with a team of professionals, sharing knowledge, and supporting apprentices.
