About The Position

The HVAC Controls Technician will be responsible for the start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, modifying the programming, point-to-point check out, testing, and implementation of commercial building automation system projects This role requires in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, control systems, and networking, with a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience to our customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED.
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in HVAC, controls, electronics or equivalent training and experience.
  • 3+ years of Building Automation/DDC systems start-up and commissioning experience.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building automation principles.
  • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting various BAS platforms including Tridium Niagara, Siemens, and Alerton.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, Lonworks, etc.).
  • Knowledge of IP networking, switches, and system integration.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret complex building architectural, electrical documents, and mechanical drawings as well as project plans, specifications, schedules, and equipment installation/operation/troubleshooting manuals.
  • Capacity to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for employer-based sponsorship currently or in the future.
  • Pre-hire requirements include a drug test, a driving report, evidence of insurability and a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and program building automation systems including controllers, sensors, actuators, and other related devices.
  • Commission systems to verify functionality, including point-to-point testing, calibration, and system optimization.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Perform maintenance and system updates to ensure optimal performance and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with other trades, such as HVAC technicians and electricians, to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports.
  • Provide technical support to customers, explaining system operation and addressing their concerns.
  • Participate in continuous training and professional development, along with maintaining a professional appearance and respecting company and customer property.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
