HVAC Controls Technician III

About The Position

This role involves responding to service calls to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), and Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and HVAC control systems. The technician will work on controls from the supervisory controller down to field controllers, sensors, actuators, end devices, and wiring. Responsibilities include performing programming modifications, system diagnostics, commissioning support, and control system repairs. A key aspect of the job is interpreting HVAC mechanical systems and sequences of operation to resolve control-related issues. The position requires working with multiple controls platforms and interfaces, and supporting larger controls projects and integrations in collaboration with project managers and other technical team members.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with BMS/BAS/DDC systems, including diagnosis, programming, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting ability with controls, field devices, sensors, actuators, and wiring; candidates who demonstrate the ability to learn these skills quickly will also be considered.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and typical sequences of operation.
  • Familiarity with ladder-logic-style programming, DDC, PLCs, or similar control programming concepts.
  • Experience with one or more BAS/control platforms such as Tridium Niagara, ABB/Cylon, Distech, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls/FX.
  • Strong computer skills, attention to detail, and professional communication with customers, coworkers, and project teams.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Niagara/N4 certification is a strong plus.
