Controls Service Technician Reports to: Service Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Controls Service Technician to work as part of a team responsible for start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning, servicing, and training of DDC Building Automation Systems. This position requires the ability to communicate clearly with customers, mechanical contractors, mechanical engineers, and co-workers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, Military Service and/or Trade School education
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience with HVAC Building Automation Systems, specifically with Niagara Niagara AX and N4, Honeywell Webs is a plus, familiar with other control systems
  • Deep understanding of BACnet protocol, with some Lonworks and Modbus experience
  • Must have good computer skills and be familiar with IP networks
  • Communication skills required (both verbal and written)
  • Flexible to work overtime, weekends and/or an on-call schedule as needed
  • Proficient in reading plans, submittal drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Must have experience using various hand and power tools
  • Ability to travel out-of-town occasionally may be required
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving history
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to establish and grow relationships with customers through effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain customer relationships, primarily focused on occupied building contracts
  • Analyze problems and resolve issues to ensure proper system functionality
  • Explore and report opportunities for advanced solutions for building operations and energy savings
  • Creation and modifications of animated graphics and minor software changes
  • Performs service repairs, adjustments, and calibration on Building Automation Systems
  • Provide technical support and training to customers as applicable
  • Checkout, start-up, and commissioning on controls projects
  • Mentoring and assisting peers as applicable
