About The Position

The Commercial Service Technician will test and troubleshoot AC systems, including the continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of the system. This role involves working from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair a wide range of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing malfunctions, locating causes of breakdowns, and performing repairs. The technician will also be responsible for assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures, as well as providing preliminary sketches and cost estimates. Planning the layout and installation of electrical systems according to job specifications and local codes, and inspecting electrical systems for hazards or defects are also key duties. The role requires performing corrective and preventive maintenance on various units and systems, including industrial-level HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Additionally, the technician will monitor work done by outside contractors and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to troubleshoot single & three phase installation.
  • Ability to work tablet, laptop, or desktop devise.
  • Must have clean driving record (No more than 3 points in 12 months).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve basic math problems.
  • Three to five years of related experience required.
  • Prolonged periods standing, crawling, climbing.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Test and troubleshoot AC systems, continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, modify and repair heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems and equipment including, reciprocating chillers, 225- ton and 190 - ton rotary screw chillers, heat exchangers, fans and fan motors, pumps and pump motors, electric and pneumatic controls, and associated safety, over current and other equipment protection devices ensuring that they operate at peak efficiency and conserve energy usage.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, and fixtures.
  • Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems.
  • Locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, identify hazards or defects; adjust or repair to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management of hazardous equipment.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specs and local codes.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Repair and maintain washers, dryers, and small appliances.
  • Plan, monitor, install, and adjust the full range of heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment by means of an energy management system hands-on work.
  • Perform installation of mechanical systems to include piping and modifications to existing facility’s cooling systems.
  • Utilize and update blueprints, technical manuals, manufacturer’s files, and other record keeping.
  • Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence to state and federal code requirements and report back to supervisor.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on packaged units, split coil systems, air compressors, pumps, air handlers, air cooled condensers, reciprocating chillers, 250 -ton centrifugal and 190- ton rotary screw chillers, and various heat exchangers.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities of a Journeyman level mechanic with strong a background in HVAC and refrigeration equipment to include hands on experience in operating and troubleshooting industrial systems.
  • Installation of mechanical systems to include piping and modifications to existing facilities cooling systems.
