About The Position

EMI Services, a subsidiary of TechFlow, is hiring HVAC Chiller Technicians to support mission-critical infrastructure at Camp Lejeune. The role involves installing, modifying, and repairing various refrigeration systems, including hermetic, semi-hermetic, screw, and scroll units up to 500 tons, air conditioning, VAV and ventilation, VRF systems, CRAC units, geo-thermal, reversible chillers, air and water-cooled chillers, process coolers, ice machines, evaporative cooling, air compressing, and related control systems (pneumatic, DDC, building control). This position performs advanced installation tasks, including testing, calibrating, and adjusting temperature and environmental control systems. It also involves installing new or repaired components, performing complex system modifications, and maintaining/repairing specialized equipment like DOAS, MAU, and Pool Pak systems. The technician will also handle complex repairs of system components such as compressors, condensers, heat pumps, fluid and refrigerant lines, valves, meters, gauges, thermostats, pumps, mechanical linkage, electrical components, and controls. The role requires preparing work orders, estimating material costs, and assisting in training lower-level workers.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED or equivalent amounts of technical training and experience
4+ years of ADVANCED experience in the maintenance, repair, installation and operation of COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIAL heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Experience must include inspection, disassembly, assembly, replacement and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration and/or air conditioning systems to include compressors, motors, burners, pumps, filters, ductwork, pipes, valves, refrigerants and their recovery systems and pressure vessels.
Experience in installing, calibrating, troubleshooting and replacement of control systems is required
EPA Universal Refrigeration License
Valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID Act or willing and able to obtain one
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
Regular, dependable attendance
US citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair various refrigerant systems to include; Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems, Chillers, Reversible Chillers, CRAC Units
Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools, cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant, installs various refrigerant valves in circuit(s)
Tests joints and connections in refrigerant piping for leaks using leak detector, verifies leak free using vacuum pump and vacuum hold test
Test and verify proper operation of components, connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and ventilation fans
Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units
Adds/removes freon to refrigerant systems to achieve proper subcooling and superheat
Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to insure proper operation
Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands
Install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging up to 500 tons cooling capacity in warehouses, barracks and commercial buildings
Prepare work orders and cost materials estimates
Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques.
