About The Position

Way Service, part of The Way Companies, has been serving commercial and industrial facilities since 1918. As a fourth-generation company, Way provides commercial HVAC, industrial HVAC, building automation, emergency service, preventative maintenance, and facility solutions across Texas and Louisiana. We are hiring an experienced Commercial HVAC Chiller Service Technician to support customers throughout the Austin / Central Texas market. This is a field-based role for a self-motivated technician with strong chiller experience, customer communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The company is looking for someone with about 10 years of experience, specifically with air-cooled and water-cooled chillers.

Requirements

  • EPA 608 Certification required.
  • Texas TDLR / TACL technician registration required or ability to obtain if relocating to Texas.
  • Ability to work independently and dispatch from home across Central Texas.
  • Strong safety mindset, customer focus, positive attitude, and reliable work ethic.
  • Willingness to travel across the Austin / Central Texas service area.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of commercial HVAC experience preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience with air-cooled and water-cooled chillers.
  • Experience with centrifugal and screw chillers, chiller controls, preventative maintenance, service work, and overhauls strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of systems 100 tons and above preferred.
  • Experience with AHUs, boilers, centrifugal pumps, cooling towers, hydronic loops, large RTUs, and related applied equipment.
  • Trade school completion preferred.
  • OEM factory training with Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin/McQuay, or similar manufacturers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
  • Work on air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, hydronic systems, pumps, cooling towers, boilers, RTUs, packaged units, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, routine overhauls, and system diagnostics.
  • Service applied equipment in commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, data center, and similar environments.
  • Communicate clearly with customers, explain technical findings, and deliver professional service.
  • Use digital tools to document work, progress, and service recommendations.
  • Support team members and, depending on experience, mentor junior technicians.
  • Participate in ongoing training, including OEM and factory training opportunities.
