What's in it for you: This role is an opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience with HVAC, building automation, connected devices, product validation, and product support processes in BrainBox AI’s new Montreal office lab. The position will support lab setup, hardware testing, product qualification, and readiness activities for solutions being evaluated for commercial deployment.

Requirements

  • Early-career professional in HVAC, building automation, electrical/mechanical technology, computer networking, IoT, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems, controls, sensors, and low-voltage wiring.
  • Interest in connected devices, building automation, product testing, and technical support.
  • Basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document technical findings clearly.
  • Hands-on mindset, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a lab and product support environment.
  • French-English bilingualism is required. In addition to fluency in French, successful candidates must have full professional proficiency in English in order to support and collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues and/or various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support setup, organization, and maintenance of the new office lab environment.
  • Assist with testing and qualification of thermostats, sensors, controllers, gateways, edge devices, and related building automation hardware.
  • Help validate device connectivity, provisioning workflows, point mapping, and basic communication using protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet.
  • Reproduce field issues in the lab and document test results, observations, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Learn and support product support processes, including issue intake, troubleshooting workflows, escalation paths, documentation, and knowledge base development.
  • Support product readiness activities by reviewing setup instructions, installation steps, commissioning documentation, and support materials.
  • Maintain lab equipment, device inventory, test records, and organized workspaces.
  • Work with product, engineering, support, and deployment teams to identify product issues and improve deployment readiness.
