Requirements

  • Interests in the industry servicing mechanical and Controls systems in the HVAC-R fields.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in how systems work
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior technicians
  • Physically capable of lifting, climbing ladders, and working in varying environments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
  • Prioritize safety in all forms.
  • This position requires a valid Alberta driver’s license.
  • Basic understanding of tools, mechanical systems, or construction environments
  • Ability to read simple drawings, instructions, or work orders
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Basic troubleshooting or problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills when working with team and customers

Responsibilities

  • 1st year apprentices will be trained and will perform work on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
  • Apprentices will participate in certified trainings through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
  • Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.
  • You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
